The Best Travel Tips, Information & Advice

If you already have your RV supplies in place and are set to visit the expansive world, you need to keep in mind a few aspects before heading out.

Be patient

The fact that you are going on a trip means that most things you encounter will be different from what you usually experience at home. Practice patience to enjoy your travels.

Make fun of yourself

Many times, while travelling in new locations, you will end up doing things that are plain crazy to the locals. Rather than get embarrassed with yourself, laugh it off and enjoy the rest of the journey. It is part of the learning experience you are having as a journeyman. Better yet, when something funny happens, learn from it and be better at your interaction skills.

Interact with the locals

Do not restrict your company to other travelers only. Rather, interact with the locals to ensure that you get the best of the journey.

Be observant

If you only focus on the out of this world experiences, you will miss a lot.

Take pictures

Either get a phone with a great camera or pack a great camera for the moments you want to keep forever. It is totally worth it.

Be friendly

When you get to a new place, open up and the locals will do the same with you. Say hi often in the local language and you will be surprised at how friendly everyone will get.

Avoid passing judgement

Most of us make the mistake of thinking just because we don’t agree with something we should make the world bend to our will. Avoid that when traveling to new places.

Be a volunteer often

Volunteering will draw you closer to the locals faster than any other activities out there. You can find recommended volunteering opportunities at Grassroots Volunteering from all around the world.

Be an early bird

When you wake up earlier than most people do, you will enjoy the land and everything it has to offer before the crowds join in. It is an awesome way to have fun.

Walk with extra cash

You never know when the local ATM will stop working. Or when your card will not be accepted for a meal. So, walk with cash with some of it in the local currency.

Carry a scarf

While it may sound far-fetched, a scarf can double up as a towel, pocket, face mask and many other roles. In cold places, you will love this handy piece of clothing.

Stay backed up

Wherever you go, make sure that you have both digital and physical copies of the important documents in your life. When something unexpected happens, you won’t be left in the dark.

Keep trying

If you want something done but the locals or anyone else keeps saying it can’t be done, prove them wrong. Just make sure it’s not something too risky on your life.

Get lost

Don’t be the guy who always sticks to the plan 100% of the time. While visiting a local fishery, how about a night out roasting fish? Keep surprising yourself as you go by.

Be a couchsurfer

Don’t be mistaken into thinking you must always stay in costly hotels. With Couchsurfing, you can spend a night or two with a local or a fellow traveler for a fraction of the price you would pay in a hotel.

You can make great savings on your travels if you keep an open mind and try out several packages offered by tour companies. This way, you can go home happy and with bank balance intact.
